Sung on Song in WSOP’s $25K Six Max
Phil Galfond stood on the cusp of his second WSOP title earlier today, but after a tough match against Steve Sung he found himself coming up second best.
Despite being one of the toughest heads-up players in the world, the online phenom couldn’t press home his advantage against Sung in the final stages of the $25,000 No Limit Hold’em six max event.
Although Galfond sat on his chip advantage and bided his time at the start of the match, Sung clawed away at his opponent’s stack until a fortunate flop gave him the opportunity to scoop all the chips in play.
After raising to 240,000 pre-flop with [Jc] [Td], Sung quickly called Galfond’s 2,400,000 chip all-in with [Ks] [Qh] to put the match on a knife edge.
With both player’s fates hanging in the balance, a [Kd] [Th] [Jh] [6c] [5h] board gave Sung the best hand and a slice of poker glory.
Indeed, as Galfond contemplated what could have been, Sung was mobbed by his supporters as he lifted his second WSOP bracelet and raked in $1,205,324.

Romanian Wins UKIPT Series in London
The UKIPT bandwagon rolled into central London on Friday night for the second incarnation of its Series tournaments.
Following the tour’s recent trip to Marbella, UKIPT’s team of tournament handlers set up camp inside the Hippodrome Casino for three more days of poker.
In total an impressive 478 players anted up the necessary £250 to take part in UKIPT Series 2 which meant the prizepool was pushed well beyond the £100,000 mark.
After two opening days of action just 131 players remained in the hunt for the £26,140 top prize and as the field shrunk it was Romania’s Gabriel Dragomir who flourished.
After starting the final table with the chip lead and taking control of a nine-way deal which saw him lock up £10,000, Dragomir slipped from the top of the chip chart before regaining his footing.
Indeed, by the time Patrik Meca had fallen in third place, Dragomir was able to get the better of Paul Zimbler to scoop the remaining £6,840 on offer as well as a shiny UKIPT trophy.
UKIPT Series 2 Final Result:
1st | Gabriel Dragomir | £16,480* |
2nd | Paul Zimbler | £8,000* |
3rd | Patrik Meca | £8,000* |

Tony G Vying for EU Position
Tony G might be known as one of the loudest players at the poker table, but now it seems he’s looking to put his vocal talents to use in the world of politics.
In a recent Facebook post the Lithuanian pro announced that he was named as a candidate for his country’s EU parliamentary elections.
“Lithuanian liberals have announced the list of candidates for the next year’s EU Parliament elections and I’m on that list. I can only say that I’m honoured to have been chosen among some of Lithuania’s most intelligent and reputable people. This weekend the party board will decide who will lead them in this election. Should I be the one they choose, I promise to put all my big heart into it and be the best EU Parliament member there ever was!”
Whether Tony will be swapping a life in poker for a life in politics remains to be seen, but if he can make half as much of an impact with the EU as he has at the felt, then he could find himself becoming one of the most famous politicians in the world.
