UKPC Preparing for a Mass Invasion, Negreanu Talks About his Vision
UKPC Set to be Big
Sky Poker’s UK Poker Championship got underway yesterday and in an effort to prevent any potential seating headaches later in the week, Rob Yong asked players to consider playing as early as possible.
With the pre-registrations topping 450 players, Yong is keen to usher more people to the felt on Day 1A which is set to kick off on Wednesday.
So far it looks as though the £500,000 guarantee will be comfortably broken but Yong is worried that he may have to turn away players on Thursday if enough people don’t join the action tomorrow.
Negreanu’s World Vision
Daniel Negreanu has penned a recent post entitled “My Vision for the Poker World” in which he outlines his thoughts for improving the game.
Stating that he feels it will take “collective effort” to make things more fun for recreational players and that pros should consider their actions in light of the “greater good“.
Essentially, Daniel envisions a world where “players think about what’s best for everyone first, understanding that in the end they will benefit from that as well.”
With Daniel pushing for a friendlier atmosphere and the GPI helping to bring more structure and credibility to the game, the future of poker is certainly looking a lot brighter.
Brown Staying Positive
Since being diagnosed with cancer Chad Brown has done everything he can to remain positive and continue playing poker at the highest level.
Despite not promoting his illness too much, Chad recently blogged about his condition and told people he’s undergone five surgeries, various forms of chemotherapy and a number of other treatments to try and beat the disease.
Aside from his treatment, Chad feels the best way to deal with things is to look at them in poker terms and see the “swings” as a natural thing.
Moreover, he believes that if he continues to make the “correct plays” he will have given himself the best chance of success, regardless of the outcome.
