WPT Belgium Bound; Phil Ivey Adds Another

World Poker Tour Heading to Belgium

The World Poker Tour is poised to make its first move into Belgium in the New Year, following the announcement of a €1,500 Main Event in February.

Kicking off on Valentine’s Day (the 14th), the tournament will run for four days and feature some of Europe’s top players.

One player who has already confirmed their attendance for the event is Belgium native and Triple Crown winner Davidi Kitai.

The Winamax pro will act as ambassador for the event, lending his knowledge and experience to the organisers as well as the tournament’s hosts: Casino Brussels.

A host of side events with buy-ins ranging from €50 to €750 is also planned for the event and will run from February 11th.

Leah Joins Team Ivey

Phil Ivey’s team of pros got a little bit bigger today with the signing of Canadian tournament pro, Mike Leah.

Known online as “GoLeafsGoEh”, Leah has managed to win $4 million at the poker table, with his largest score coming in last year’s WCOOP Main Event where he placed 3rd for $663,816.

Far from being a dedicated online grinder, Leah also has a respectable record in the live arena with more than $1.5 million in earnings.

Leah joins an increasingly frightening pool of talent as Team Ivey now contains an array of world-class players, including: Patrik Antonius, Greg Merson, John Eames, James Dempsey, Matt Gianetti and Jennifer Harman.

After the news was made public, Leah took to Twitter to address his team-mates and express his delight at being asked to represent the site:

@GoLeafsGoEh: “@philivey @JBrikis Thrilled to be part of such an awesome team! Can’t wait for 2013; happy holidays everyone 🙂 #TeamIvey”
