WSOP Main Event: Keep an Eye on Vamplew
NOTE: This article is being released days before lineups are due for the World Series of Poker Main Event. Be sure to verify this player’s status when lineups are due.
He’s accumulated over $750,000 USD since the start of the 44th World Series of Poker but you’ll have a hard time convincing David Vamplew (GPI#49) that he should be 100% satisfied with how things have gone in the boiling hot Nevada desert.
Vamplew, a young Scottish poker pro who became an overnight sensation when he defeated poker legend John Juanda (GPI#56) to win EPT London back in 2010, cannot be satisfied with coming oh so close to a bracelet on TWO different occasions, each time finishing second and having to stand by and watch a fellow competitors (Trevor Pope, Brett Shaffer) earn the first WSOP victories of their young poker careers.
So there you have it, the exact motivation Vamplew needs to take two second place finishes and turn them into a very deep run in this year’s WSOP Main Event!
There is no doubting Vamplew’s talent … and his circle of friends (which include WSOP and WPT Champ Dominik Nitsche and EPT Sanremo winner Rupert Elder) assure that his game won’t go stale any time soon and he should be considered a threat in any tournament he enters.
Vamplew’s FPM value eclipses the 260K mark, but given his performance here this summer, and the totality of his poker resumé, Vamplew could be a great option for your team come Main Event time!
