Yang Watch for Sale, Negreanu to Celebrate 40, HOF Nominations Begin

Yang Championship Watch for Sale

It has been no secret that 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Jerry Yang had financial problems after his victory. Some of his property was nabbed by the United States tax authority in order to make up for unpaid taxes, and that property included his WSOP bracelet and Corum watch.

Whoever bought the watch from the Internal Revenue Service auction now wants money for it on eBay. The watch is said to be valued at $9K, and the current bid is at $4,050 as of the evening of July 22. Less than two days remain to buy the watch, which is “in excellent condition” with a “flawless” glass face and minor scratches on the case.

Negreanu to Celebrate Birthday

As Daniel Negreanu prepares to turn 40 years old, he decided to do it in style with an all day and night party in Las Vegas. And by putting the invitation on Twitter, it looks like everyone is invited.

“Big 40th Bday coming up and I’m going to do it right,” he wrote from his @RealKidPoker account.

Anyone is welcome to join him at the Marquee Dayclub at the Cosmopolitan on the Las Vegas Strip on Friday, July 25 or at Marquee Nightclub on Saturday, July 26. It is unclear who is buying drinks.

Poker Hall of Fame Nominations Open

The Poker Hall of Fame has opened for the nomination process. Any player to be considered for induction into the HOF must meet certain requirements:

1. Must be at least 40 years old when nominated.

2. Must have played poker for high stakes.

3. Must have played consistently well and gained the respect of his or her peers.

4. Non-players must have contributed to the overall growth and success of poker with indelible positive and lasting results.

Anyone can submit names for nominations through the online form before August 15.

At that point, the list of nominations will be forwarded to a committee that will review and determine the final list of candidates. The final list will be revealed in September, and the ballot of names will be examined by living Hall of Fame members and a select group of members of the poker media. The two finalists with the most votes at the end of the process will be inducted at the time of the November Nine WSOP final table at the Rio in Las Vegas.
