Daniel Colman Wins WSOP One Drop, RIP Chad Brown

Colman Bests Negreanu in One Drop Finale

The battle between the two Daniels in this year’s $1 million One Drop event came to a conclusion earlier today and when the betting was over it was Colman who triumphed over Negreanu.

On a day that started with nine players still in with a chance of winning the $15 million top prize it was Negreanu who got off to the best start after he eliminated Tom Hall on the first hand. From there Kid Poker began to rip through the field but as a string of world-class players hit the rail he wasn’t able to shake off Colman.

Indeed, by the time Christoph Vogelsang had exited in third place it was Colman who held the chip lead. Being a heads-up specialist he was able to hold of Negreanu for a while before suffering a minor setback.

However, a rallying effort eventually helped the American regain the chip lead and in a final all-in flurry he clinched his first win and the biggest score of his career.

The final hand saw Negreanu limp shove all-in with Ad 4c from the small blind and Colman make the call with Kd Qh. As the flop rolled out Js Ah 4s it was Negreanu who took the lead, however, after the Ts landed on the turn Colman took control and shipped the $15,306,668 first place prize after the 7s completed the board.

Chad Brown Dies After Lengthy Cancer Battle

American poker pro Chad Brown has sadly passed away after battling with a rare form of cancer for three years.

The PokerStars pro and partner of Vanessa Rousso, Chad earned more than $3.6 million in his poker career but back in 2011 he was forced to reduce his time at the felt in order to receive treatment for his illness.

Multiple bouts of treatment followed the initial diagnosis and over the last three years the doctors did everything they could to prevent the disease from spreading.

Unfortunately, however, things gradually got worse and last night he passed away in his bed at a New York hospice.

Late last week the WSOP presented Chad with an honorary bracelet and in his last few days with us he proudly wore it whilst he spent time with his family and friends.

News of Chad’s passing was fed to the community through Vanessa Rousso who tweeted:

“Unfortunately @Downtownchad has passed this evening. He touched so many during his lifetime and will live on within them. I love you Chad!”

Following the tweet a slew of replies bounced around the poker community with the likes of Doyle Brunson, Barry Greenstein and Tony G all sending messages of condolence.
