Announcing the Global Poker Awards

POKER GOES WORLDWIDE WITH THE GLOBAL POKER AWARDS

The first-ever Global Poker Awards, presented by PokerStars, will be streamed exclusively on PokerGO

LAS VEGAS, NV – March 7, 2019 – In 2019, the celebrations of poker excellence worldwide will come together at the Global Poker Awards. Poker Central and the Global Poker Index (GPI) today announced that the poker industry’s finest from around the world will be recognized in the first-ever Global Poker Awards, held at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas.

The event merges multiple awards programs, including the GPI’s American Poker Awards and European Poker Awards, into one star-studded ceremony to celebrate excellence both on and off the felt. The ceremony will bring together the world’s most successful poker players, industry leaders, and members of the media.

Twenty awards will be handed out to this year’s top contenders. A full list of categories and nominations will be announced at a later date. In the weeks prior to the ceremony, a nomination panel will determine the finalists in each category through a voting process. Award winners will then be selected by a jury made up of industry representatives. The Global Poker Awards ceremony will be broadcast live exclusively on PokerGO on April 5th.

“We’re thrilled to deliver streaming coverage of the first-ever Global Poker Awards show live from the PokerGO Studio,” said Sam Simmons, president of Poker Central. “We look forward to celebrating the achievements of the industry’s best and brightest while providing PokerGO subscribers a front row seat for all the festivities.”

“Our global initiatives behind the European Poker Awards and the American Poker Awards come together starting this year,” said Eric Danis, GPI president. “We’re excited to bring recognition to the poker world’s best players and most prominent industry contributors on an unprecedented scale.”

The Global Poker Awards is presented by PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker room with more daily tournaments than anywhere else and some of the biggest guarantees and fields available online.
