GPI300: O’Dwyer maintains lead, ElkY on the edge
The current World #1 maintains his lead while a former #1 is on the brink of dropping from the GPI300 …
MAKE IT NINE FOR O’DWYER
Steve O’Dwyer (GPI#1, =), sits at the top of the GPI World Poker Rankings for a ninth straight week. A few scores at the inaugural World Series of Poker Circuit event in the country of Georgia should provide O’Dwyer some relief as a tough period awaits as plenty of scores will continue to lose value in the coming months.
A few important scores over the weekend in Las Vegas sees GPL New York Rounders Team Manager Bryn Kenney (GPI#3, +5) return to the #3 spot for the first time in eight months. Incredibly, since December 24, 2014, Kenney has only spent two weeks ranked outside the Top 10.
Meanwhile, former GPI World #1 Bertrand Grospellier (GPI#299, -22) is in danger of becoming only the second-ever #1 to drop out of the GPI300 – Vanessa Seblst (GPI#469, -14) being the first. ElkY, who has also made a return to competitive E-Sports recently, will hope to turn the tide in the coming weeks.
A total of 15 players enter the GPI300 this week including WPT L.A. Poker Classic 4th place finisher Sam Soverel (GPI#267, +298) and Elliot Smith (GPI#279, +113), who each make their very first appearance ranked inside the 300.
