As Jason Mercier (GPI#1, =) begins his sixth week ranked atop the GPI World Poker Rankings, he sees his lead widen at the top following a successful result in the High Roller event at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, which concluded last week in Florida. Mercier now holds a 238-point lead over current GPI PoY leader Anthony Zinno (GPI#2, =).

A final table finish in the Main Event at the SHRPO sees Paul Volpe (GPI#4 CB, +5) move up to a career-best #4 in the World. A strong summer also has Volpe in contention for GPI Player of the Year – he currently sits 5th on the PoY leaderboard.

A few weeks after German star Dominik Nitsche (GPI#8, =) made his debut in the Top 10, it’s American pro Nicholas Petrangelo’s (GPI#9 CB, +2) turn to enter the elite group for the very first time. Petrangelo was able to move up thanks to Dario Sammartino (GPI#10, =) and Dan Smith (GPI#15, -9) dropping points this week. Smith drops out of the Top 10 for the first time in over three months.

A total of 18 players enter the GPI300 this week including Marc MacDonnell (GPI#225), Christoph Csik (GPI#249), Pablo Fernandez (GPI#256), Jens Lakemeier (GPI#272), James Gilbert (GPI#275) and Randy Pfeifer (GPI#291), who each make their debut inside the Top 300.
