Hinkle Wins WSOPC Council Bluffs and Makes History

Blair Hinkle Wins WSOPC Council Bluffs

The World Series of Poker Circuit was in Council Bluffs at the Horseshoe Casino finished its $1,675 NLHE Reentry Main Event with a well-known player as its champion.

The tournament began with a total of 247 entries and a $370,500 prize pool. Day 2 thinned the field into the money so the top 27 players could be paid. Blair Hinkle burst that money bubble, and players started cashing for $2,994.

Players like Bernard Lee and Jim Carroll cashed late in the evening. And on the final table bubble, Alexandru Masek pushed with A-J against the pocket nines of Ken Douglas and never improved. Masek left in tenth place with $6,747, and the final table was set with Douglas in the chip lead but Blair Hinkle close behind.

Day 3 moved rather quickly, and Bond soared midway through, eliminating Paul Ewen in fourth and then Douglas in third to take 3.55 million chips into heads-up play against the 1.4 million of Hinkle. Hinkle immediately closed the gap and took the lead, but the two exchanged chips for a bit before Bond risked his last 1.4 million with A-8. Hinkle had pocket sevens and won with two pair.

Hinkle won his third WSOPC Main Event at Council Bluffs and became the first player to ever defend his championship title from one year to the next.
