WPT World Championship Moves to Borgata

Shocking news out of Atlantic City as the World Poker Tour announces it it moving its World Championship to Borgata:

Chino Rheem GPIThe first 11 WPT World Champions were crowned in Las Vegas … after an 11-year relationship with the prestigious Bellagio, the tour’s next World Championship will be played at Borgata in Atlantic City. The Borgata has hosted four of the five biggest WPT events in the tour’s history.

WPT President Adam Pliska: “With Borgata’s well-deserved reputation for running world-class tournaments and providing unparalleled service to its players, we believe this venue is perfectly suited to host our season-culminating event. We look forward to working with the team at Borgata to bring the WPT World Championship to new heights.”

A move to the US’s East Coast seems to be a popular one amongst the poker playing community:

The WPT also announced that PartyPoker would be the official sponsor of this year’s WPT Championship. The move makes sense as PartyPoker look to launch BorgataPoker.com, a regulated online poker site to serve residents of New Jersey, in the near future.
