WSOP Main Event: Keep An Eye On Allain

There is no doubt that France is a powerhouse in poker. Led by Bertrand Grospellier, Fabrice Soulier and defending EPT Sanremo Champion Ludovic Lacay, France has produced some of the world’s best in the past few years. The country ranks fifth all-time in total bracelets and enjoyed a fantastic run in 2011 where four different players ElkY, Elie Payan, Soulier and Antonin Teisseire)collected bracelets in Las Vegas.

But, for the first time in four years, France risks leaving Las Vegas with zero gold, no hardware as the country’s biggest stars and its rising young guns have yet to win a Vegas bracelet in 2013 and, with only one tournament remaining – the Main Event – the risk of being shutout grows substantially each team a French poker player is knocked out of the World Championship.

Although there are a few French players who survived Day 1A and 1B play and a few more name players in today’s Day 1C field, the best hope at a bracelet may very well belong to one of its rising stars, former WPT Amnéville Champion Adrien Allain.

Allain first rose to stardom on the live tournament circuit back in 2009 where he outlasted 325 opponents to win APT Macau. He collected over 3M HKD for the big victory.  JC Tran, David Steicke and Casey Kastle were amongst the final table participants he defeated in that event.

A few short years later, the Barriere Poker player was back at it at the previously mentioned WPT Amnéville event where he defeated the likes of Scott Baumstein, Joseph Cheong, Arnaud Mattern and Paul Berende on way to his second major title, placing him amongst the European elite.

The past two years have been kind of quiet for Allain on the live circuit – a medical condition kept him off the tour for a while –  but a fifth place finish in the NLH 3K event at the 2012 WSOP and his three Top 15 finishes in the past two WSOP’s has certainly set the young man up for success. The immense pressure of brining home gold for France may very well sit right on his shoulders.

At a current FPM Market Price of 10,000, Allain is a bargain and could be the type of player you need to breakthrough in the FPM Main Event League! After ending Day 1B play with 118,125, he is well setup to run it up on Day 2B.
