WSOP Event 46: Under Par

The $50K Poker Players Championship started on Sunday and set the official registration numbers on Monday. There were 102 entries, 30 short of last year’s field, and the 2014 prize pool was set at $4,896,000. The top 14 players would be paid with over $1.5 million for the winner.

Day 3 started with 55 players and whittled that number down to 22 with Abe Mosseri holding a substantial chip lead over the group. Brandon Shack-Harris and Matt Glantz were in second and third chip positions.

Day 4 headed toward the money bubble, though players like David Oppenheim, David Steicke, and Gary Benson didn’t make it that far.

WSOP Event 47: Final Table Underway

The only new event on Monday was the $1,500 Ante Only NLHE tournament, which drew 714 players for a $963,900 prize pool.

Day 2 took the field from 80 remaining players, into the money to pay the top 72, and all the way to the final table. Day 3 started with eliminations of Arthur Pro, the day’s original chip leader Jeremy Joseph, Herbert Yarbrough, and then Ryan D’Angelo. Rhys Jones led the final five as play continued.

WSOP Event 48: In the Money

This $1,500 PLO-8 tournament was the only new Tuesday event and attracted 991 players for a $1,337,850 prize pool.

Day 2 brought 152 players back to the tables and quickly headed toward the money bubble to pay the top 117 of them. Jeff Madsen eliminated the bubble player, and play moved forward quickly.

New Wednesday Events

There were two new tournaments on Wednesday. The first started at noon and offered a $5K NLHE option. The second was a $1,500 Eight-Game Mix tournament that was scheduled to begin at 4pm.

Monster Stack Change

As players began signing up Event 51 at the World Series of Poker, the $1,500 Monster Stack tournament grew faster than anticipated. Talk of an alternate list the day before the tournament even began prompted WSOP executives to declare two starting flights for the Thursday noon event.

There will now be two starting flights for Event 51. The noon flight should seat approximately 4,000 players, and overflow will be directed to the afternoon flight. No reentries will be allowed, but players registering tonight and tomorrow can choose their flights until A is sold out.
