A Final Look at WPT Barcelona

Question: Is there a region producing successful live tournament poker players more than the Province of Québec in Canada? Answer: If there is, you’ve got us!

Another tournament, another French Canadian picking up a huge score. Following in the line of his friends Jonathan Duhamel, Jonathan Roy, Jason Lavallée and Marc-André Ladouceur (just to name a few), it’s Chanracy Khun’s (GPI#1240) time to shine as he defeated a 249-player field to win the bwin.es WPT Barcelona title, the first major score of Khun’s young live tournament poker career.

Khun takes home $258,448 USD for the victory. Khun defeated Benjamin Pollak (GPI#710) heads-up. The Frenchman earned $162,822 for his efforts. It was Pollak’s third score of the 2013 season – he had collected two WPT National Top 30 finishes at WPTN Brussels and WPTN Mauritius earlier this year.

WPT Barcelona was the final event presented in Europe this season on the World Poker Tour as Season XI wraps-up with events in Florida (Hollywood and Jacksonville), Montreal and Las Vegas for the WPT World Championship.

Kara Scott FPMFANTASY FOCUS
A total of 1,111 managers collected a minimum of 18 FPM Points for WPT Barcelona, with Christian L. of leading the way with a total of 303 FPM Points in the event.  His team was led by runner-up finisher Benjamin Pollak.

On the notables side, both Kevin MacPhee and Kara Scott enjoyed successful runs off the felt at Barcelona.  For MacPhee – it was a tough Day 2 on the felt.  MacPhee entered Day 2 play as one of the favourites with a top stack – but the American was unable to make it out alive on that day.

For Scott, it’s the second straight FPM event where she earns a top score.  After impressing both on and off the felt at the WPT Venice Grand Prix, it’s another strong FPM performance for the hostess with the mosstes!

ERIC’S TEAM
Although I wasn’t able to pick any player that made it to the final table, I was able to have a few players score in the event, allowing me to finish a respectable 15th overall – I’ll take it!
