Altergott Wins $25K Challenge, Aussie Millions Plays On, Gaviao Wins WSOPC Tunica

Max Altergott Aussie Millions $25K Challenge

The $25K NLHE Challenge was one of the highlights of the Aussie Millions in Melbourne, Australia, and the action took place on February 2 and 3. There were 65 entries in the event, creating an AU $1.56 million prize pool.

Day 2 of the tournament brought 30 players back with Fabian Quoss as the chip leader, but he ended up busting in 11th place, followed by Ole Schemion, and then Benny Spindler on the money bubble.

The final eight played on with several eliminations before the last five players decided to chop the rest of the prize money per ICM numbers. From there, players sped up the action with randomly ascending blinds until Max Altergott emerged as the champion.

3rd place: Jason Mercier (AU $263,342)

4th place: Martin Jacobson (AU $285,921)

5th place: Scott Seiver (AU $265,538)

8th place: Tobias Reinkemeier (AU $55,000)

Two Starting Flights Complete at Aussie Millions Main Event

Players gathered at the Crown Casino for one of the biggest tournaments of the year – the Aussie Millions. And the AU $10,600 NLHE Main Event was the primary attraction when it began on February 2. That day attracted 176 players with 86 remaining at the end of the night and David Malka leading with 205,400 chips.

The second starting day brought another 153 players into the mix, with only 81 of them surviving all seven levels. Dean Schneider was that day’s chip leader with 188,800 in his stack.

Jonathan Gaviao Wins WSOPC Tunica Main Event

The World Series of Poker Circuit is wrapping its latest stop in Tunica, Mississippi. The $1,675 NLHE Reentry Main Event started on January 23 and wrapped on February 3.

The two starting flights attracted a total of 577 entries for a prize pool of $865,500.

Day 2 brought back 128 players but burst through the money bubble to pay the top 63 players and then continued on until only six players remained. Some of the players who collected cash for their efforts included Kyle Cartwright, Charles Moore, Katherine Bowen, Phillip Hui, and Jacob Bazeley. Jamey Kramer exited on the final table bubble, and action continued for a while but stopped with six left.

Brad Lipsey led at the start of Day 3 but exited in fourth, with Jonathan Gaviao moving forward and taking a lead into heads-up and then on to victory.

3rd place: Charles Hopkins ($82,205)

4th place: Brad Lipsey ($61,000)

5th place: Jackson White ($45,897)

6th place: David Lee ($35,009)

9th place: Timothy Tracy ($16,860)
