ANZPT and LAPT Updates, Alpha8 Commentators

Field Set for ANZPT Queenstown

The third and final starting day for the Queenstown stop on the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour drew 47 players, making for a grand total of 126 for the tournament. The prize pool was then set at NZ $340,200, which will pay out the top 15 players and give NZ $93,600 to the winner.

Day 2 started on August 2 with 66 players who survived their respective Day Ones, and Bryan Huang was the overall chip leader with 99,425 chips.

LAPT Peru on Day 1B

The LAPT was in Miraflores in Lima, Peru, for the latest stop on the Latin American Poker Tour. After 213 players turned out for the first starting day, the second brought in another 334 of them. The final prize pool and other statistics were not yet released into the evening hours of Day 1B.

WPT Alpha8 Names New Commentators

The World Poker Tour’s new Alpha8 high stakes tournaments to begin this month in Florida released another bit of news this week. The latest is that the official commentators for the show will be Ali Nejad and Olivier Busquet. They will work with anchor Lynn Gilmartin to highlight the players and action throughout the new series.

The first tournament of Alpha8 will start on August 26 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, with a $100K buy-in reentry event. The episodes will begin to air on FOX Sports 1 in early 2014.
