Prize Pool Set at ANZPT Perth

Season 6 of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour took over the Crown Perth Casino this week for the ANZPT Perth stop. The primary attraction was the $2,200 NLHE Main Event, which boasted of two starting days.

Day 1A saw 85 players participate, though only 54 finished the day. Day 1B added another 171 players, putting the grand total at 256. The resulting prize pool was $512K, which was going to pay the top 27 players and give $131,900 to the ultimate winner.

That day ended with 91 players remaining, and Brian Mcallister was the chip leader with 103,175 chips, which took over the chip lead from Day 1A’s Bernard Beh with 79,850 chips.

Day 2 will start on February 28 with 145 players returning to action.

WSOPC Caesars Palace Crowns Prelim Winners

No NBC National Heads-Up Championship in 2014

PokerNews confirmed today that the NBC National Heads-Up Championship will not happen in 2014. Mori Eskandani of Poker PROductions verified that the rumors were true.

He did say, however, “I have good reason to believe that the future of the series will be bright.”

The popular televised $20K buy-in heads-up tournament was filmed in Las Vegas every year since 2005, with the exception of 2012. It returned last year but will miss 2014.
