WSOPC Palm Beach Main Event Underway

Before the World Series of Poker Circuit was over in Las Vegas, the action was heating up at the Palm Beach Kennel Club in Florida. And history was made in Event 7 when longtime pro Ari Engel won his fifth WSOPC gold ring. Though Alexandru Masek has six, Engel is now tied for second place with Mark Smith, Kurt Jewell, and Kyle Cartwright for five rings each.

The $1,675 Main Event started on February 23 with two starting flights on the same day. They ended up with 670 entries for a prize pool of $1,005,000. The top 72 players will be paid with the minimum payout set at $2,814 and the winner to be awarded $206,020.

WPT L.A. Poker Classic Begins

The World Poker Tour was in Los Angeles for the $10K L.A. Poker Classic Main Event. Players had until the start of Day 2 to register, and Day 1 numbers showed that 505 players entered. Only 369 of them survived the day, though, with Kamaleddin Abdolrahimi at the top of the leaderboard with 140K chips.

Prize pool information was given at the start of Day 2. The total field of 517 players created a prize pool of $4,963,200. That will be distributed among the top 63 players with $1,004,090 saved for the first place finisher.
