APPT Seoul Begins, WNY Poker Challenge and SHR Poker Showdown Underway

APPT Seoul Kicks Off

The Asia Pacific Poker Tour was in its eighth season when it traveled to South Korea for the APPT Seoul stop. The Paradise Casino Walkerhill hosted the tournament, which began the first of its starting days on April 3.

Day 1A drew 118 players, including names like Bryan Huang, Celina Lin, defending champion Aaron Lim, Naoya Kihara, and Sam Razavi. Out of the 42 players who made it through the day, Masato Yokosawa had the most chips with a stack of 146,800, followed by Artem Lobus with 116,200 chips.

WNY Poker Challenge Side Events Underway

The 2014 Western New York Poker Challenge kicked off on March 28 with a series of live tournaments at the Seneca Poker Room in Niagara Falls, New York. There are 16 events in all over the course of 10 days.

The first event was a $200 NLHE tournament that garnered 144 entries and $24,480 prize pool. Kevin Mathias was the winner, and he took home $6,514

Event 2 was a $500 NLHE event, and Joseph Elia took home the top prize of more than $14K. And Tristran Coffin won Event 3, a $300 NLHE tournament that awarded $4,900 for first place.

SHR Poker Showdown in Action

The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown in Hollywood, Florida, was underway as of March 27. The series offers numerous events, the highlight of which will be the World Poker Tour Main Event that begins April 10.

Event 1 of the series was a $560 buy-in Deep Stack NLHE that attracted 1,966 entries and a prize pool of $1 million. Daniel Piela won it for $144,294.

Event 2 was a ladies-only reentry event requiring a $250 buy-in, and Elissa Helbreich won it for $2,730. Henry Fermin won Event 3, a $250 Bounty NLHE, for more than $2,700, and Jerome Bradpiece of London took down Event 4, a $1,100 NLHE reentry, for first place money of nearly $37K.
