Hall of Famer Argyros Wins APPT Title

The most recent stop on Season 7 of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour was in Melbourne, and the Crown Melbourne hosted the AU $3K NLHE Main Event. There were 309 entries in total for a prize pool of AU $834K, and the top 36 players were paid.

Day 3 set the final table with David Yan as the chip leader, and Jazz Mathers and Billy “The Croc” Argyros were the short stacks.

Playdown on September 9 saw Argyros rise toward the top to join Yan and Bowdy Tolhopf. They were the final three and made a deal for the remainder of the prize money based on ICM numbers with Tolhopf in the lead and Argyros as the shortest of the three. But three-handed play lasted more than four hours before Yan exited in third place. The final two struck another deal for the prize money before Argyros emerged victorious. The Australian Poker Hall of Famer won his first APPT title.

8th place: Ravi Maravar (AU $22,920)

9th place: Jazz Mathers (AU $16,650)

Harvey Vandeven Wins CPPT Jacksonville

The first stop on the current season of the Card Player Poker Tour was at bestbet Jacksonville in Florida. The two starting flights of the $1,500 NLHE Main Event brought in a total of 255 players for a $344,250 prize pool, which surpassed the $300K guarantee.

Day 2 of the tournament started with 55 players, but the money bubble burst that afternoon to allow the top 27 players to be paid a minimum of $3,098. The Day 2 chip leader, Belal Assi, was remained the chip leader after the night was complete, and the final table was set.

The final table played out on September 9 in about four hours. The final two players – Harvey Vandeven and T.K. Miles – agreed to an even chop despite Vandeven holding a 2.5-to-1 chip lead over his opponent. Vandeven did win and took the trophy along with the prize money.
