Aussie Millions Plays On, Players Confirm Alpha8, Seminole Releases Showdown Schedule

Field Set at Aussie Millions

The Aussie Millions was underway at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia, and the AU $10,600 NLHE Main Event is into its second full day.

Day 1A brought in 176 players, and another 153 came in on Day 1B. There were another 328 players on Day 1C, but registration remained open. After the start of Day 2 of the tournament, the field total was announced to be 668 players. It was larger than the last two years but still smaller than the peak years of 2007 through 2011. The prize pool was still being calculated at the time of this posting, but it should exceed $6.6 million

Day 2 began with over 300 players still in action and Martin Rowe as the overall chip leader with 228,200 in his stack.

Some Players Confirm Alpha8 Africa Attendance

As the WPT Alpha8 tournament approaches in Johannesburg, a number of players have confirmed that they will play in the $100K High Roller reentry tournament.

Phil Ivey and Dan Smith are two of the latest to confirm, and they will join others like Erik Seidel, Antonio Esfandiari, Jeff Gross, Jason Mercier, Dan Cates, Philipp Gruissem, and Jason Mercier in the two-day event. The World Poker Tour also revealed that South African high-stakes player Darren Kramer will participate, as will satellite winner Greg Ronaldson.

Emperors Palace will host the tournament, and players will receive complimentary accommodations at Peermont D’Oreale Grant Hotel.

Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Schedule Released

The Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida, offered up its schedule for the upcoming 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown.

The series will culminate in the $3,500 World Poker Tour Main Event from April 10-16. That tournament alone will boast of a $5 million guarantee. The entire series begins on March 27 with 62 tournaments on tap, the first of which will be a $560 buy-in NLHE event with six starting days and a $1 million guarantee.
