EPT Grand Final Latest, Former BMX Pro Beats UK Poker Legend

EPT Grand Final Heating Up

The EPT Grand Final‘s Main Event might be in full swing at the moment, but away from the tournament tables some of the world’s best cash game players have been doing their thing.

At the end of last week the likes of Daniel Cates, Isaac Haxton and Phil Ivey sat down for a €500/€1,000 cash game and while the swings were less dramatic than expected, the poker on display was certainly no less interesting.

Indeed, at the close of play it was Cates who scooped the most profit thanks to a five-figure pot against the shy and retiring Christoph Vogelsang.

While no more than €100,000 was won during the first game, news has surfaced last night that a €2,000/€4,000 session was underway and will likely continue throughout the week.

Away from the cash game action, the EPT Grand Final‘s Main Event finally closed its registration books earlier today and thanks to a wave of entrants over the weekend the final total reached 650.

That figure means that when the final bets take place later this week, one winner will walk away with a top prize worth €1,240,000.

Batey Beats Tann at DTD

One of the UK’s best loved old school gamblers made it to the final table of the latest 8-max Main Event inside Dusk Till Dawn, but when the chips fell it was former pro BMX rider Liam Batey who reigned supreme.

After sitting down alongside 250 players, Batey found himself heads-up with UK legend Willie Tann for the latest DTD title and an £8,250 top prize.

Having already seen off the likes of Paul Grummitt and Fraser Dunphy, Batey found himself face-to-face with the inimitable Tann.

Fortunately for Batey the advances of Tann weren’t enough to prize the title from his hands and within a few bets the British grinder was able to ride off with £8,250 as well as a seat in the forthcoming UKIPT Nottingham Main Event.

DTD £40,000 Guaranteed 8-Max Result:

1. Liam Batey – £8,250

2. Willie Tann – £5,000

3. Fraser Dunphy – £3,425

4. Anonymous – £2,800

5. Paul Grummitt – £2,250

6. Mark Smith – £1,800

7. Mark C Smith – £1,450

8. Mitchell Johnson – £1,150
