EPT Prague High Roller Result, WPT Prague Rumbles On

Ivan’s Time to Shine

Before Julian Track clinched EPT Prague‘s Main Event title and stole the show inside The Hilton Prague, Ivan Soshnikov had skipped his way through a tough field of pros in the festival’s €10,300 High Roller.

Despite having never previously played an event of such magnitude (and only having a record live cash of €4,800), Ivan didn’t seem to mind swimming with sharks in search of a potentially life-changing sum of money.

After lining up alongside 137 players the young Russian was able to weave his way through the early stages and find his way onto a tough final table that contained the likes of Vanessa Selbst, Mike McDonald and Olivier Busquet.

Surrounded by threat but remaining calm in the face of adversity, Ivan managed to sit tight as though around him buckled under the pressure. Indeed, as Selbst, McDonald and Andy Seth fell by the wayside, Ivan began to grow in confidence and by the time just three players remained he was able to take charge of proceedings.

Dmitry Yurasov was the first player to feel the stinging cut of Ivan’s blade before Olivier Busquet found himself on the wrong end of a pocket tens vs. pocket fours coup. With the final few chips now in Ivan’s possession he was able to breathe a sigh of relief and raise his hands aloft as the winner’s trophy was presented to him.

1 – Ivan Soshnikov – €382,050

2 – Olivier Busquet – €257,850

3 – Dmitry Yurasov – €177,500

4 – Thomas Muhlocker – €144,700

5 – Mike McDonald – €115,400

6 – Andy Seth – €88,650

7 – Vanessa Selbst – €64,500

8 – Max Heinzelmann – €46,750

Finale Nears at WPT Prague

Whilst things were coming to a close at EPT Prague, Marc McLaughlin was busy scooping the chip lead across the city in the WPT’s €3,300 Main Event. Having hovered amongst the top stacks for most of the day, McLaughlin was able to secure a tournament leading stack after his trip sixes were enough to oust Alexander Lahkov.

That final coup was enough to demote Kara Scott into second place as today’s session welcomed back 63 players all hoping to move another step closer to the $283,827 top prize.

With five 90-minute levels to play and just 18 spaces in Day 4 up for grabs, today’s action has seen a wave of tentative play wash over the field. Indeed, with only 36 payout places on offer the field is currently poised on 47 players at the time of writing.

Among the session’s early casualties was Tamar Kamel, Stephane Benadiba and Benjamin Pollak and leading the way as the bubble approached was Vasil Firsau with almost 500,000 chips.
