ESPT and EPT Barcelona Latest, Bilzerian Movie Role Axed

Crowds Gather in Barcelona

Yesterday might have been one of the busiest days in Casino de Barcelona’s history with more than 1,000 players taking part in Day 1B of the Estrellas Poker Tour, but today the room is a little less busy.

However, that doesn’t mean the action has been any less enthralling as the ESPT’s Day 2 survivors have been joined by an elite group of pros taking part in the EPT €50,000 Super High Roller.

Indeed, whilst the bubble has just burst in the €1,100 ESPT event, a total of 36 runners in the Super High Roller are currently battling for EPT glory.

With registration still open that figure could certainly increase as the session wears on, however, at present Daniel Negreanu is the player on top with 575,000 chips, just ahead of Vladimir Troyanovskiy (465,700) and David Benefield (455,000).

Also in the field are luminaries such as Fabian Quoss, Ole Schemion and recent WPT Alpha8 winner Steven Silverman, but one pro that decided to give the event a miss was Marvin Rettenmaier.

Despite flying in Barcelona earlier this week the German grinder tweeted that he’d rather spend this evening partying than grinding.

Poker Player Suing Movie Producers

Dan Bilzerian is used to losing vast sums of money at the high stakes cash tables in Las Vegas, but it seems that a recent movie investment hasn’t gone down so well.

Indeed, whilst he was happy to lose more than $2 million last week during a $2,000/$5,000 game with the likes of Tom Dwan and Phil Ivey, Bilzerian isn’t pleased that his cameo in a new film has been cut.

According to a report on thedissolve.com, the high stakes poker player is suing the producers of a war film called Lone Survivor because they broke the terms of their agreement.

Having garnered a selection of investors to help them fund the film in exchange for a place in the credits, Bilzerian managed to negotiate a cameo clause that guaranteed him at least eight minutes on screen in return for a $1 million investment.

However, it seems that after reviewing the footage the producers and directors weren’t particularly impressed with Bilzerian’s acting skills so decided to cut him from the final version.

Not best pleased with this decision it seems the poker player has filed a lawsuit for $1.2 million and will now fight for compensation.
