GPI REVEAL ANNOUNCE DATE FOR 2021 GPI PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Female and National PoYs to also be announced

First-ever GPI Mid-Major PoY to be introduced

LAS VEGAS, December 28, 2021 – The Global Poker Index (GPI) announced that their 2021 GPI Player of the Year will be revealed on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, as the 2021 GPI poker season is set to conclude the previous night on January 4th.

The Female Player of the Year will also be introduced on that day. After dominating the Female PoY race for three straight seasons, Kristen Bicknell looks to be relinquishing the crown by all account as a new Female PoY will probably be revealed for the first time since 2017.

The GPI are excited to announce the winner of a new trophy as the very first Mid-Major Player of the Year race will conclude. The current race to the Mid-Major title is so close, it will go down to the wire.

Finally, several National Players of the Year will be announced on January 5th. Players from Bosnia & Herzegovina, France, Georgia, Lithuania, Russia, Spain, the United Kingdom and the USA are a few of the many expected to be recognized as National Players of the Year. A minimum of 1,000 PoY points is required to be recognized officially as a National Player of the Year.

Winners will be invited to the Global Poker Awards to receive their trophies. The 3rd Global Poker Awards will be streamed live from the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino on Friday, February 18, exclusively on PokerGO.
