GPI300: Total Chaos | Negreanu, Mercier, Hellmuth, Boeree Fall

The waters were calm for a while but not this week, as total chaos reigns in the GPI300:

VIEW FROM THE TOP

Germany FlagLet’s start with the German trio who’s taken over the Top 3 on the GPI. Marvin Rettenmaier (GPI#1, -), Ole Schemion (GPI#2, +4) and Philipp Gruissem (GPI#3, +1) will all get the opportunity to add to their point totals this month with EPT London, WSOP Europe and the WPT Grand Prix de Paris all kicking off in the next few weeks.

David Sands GPIAnd that’s where the madness begins: David Sands (GPI#4, +4) and Michael Watson (GPI#5, +4) both improve their placement inside the Top 10 … but it’s drops from Daniel Negreanu (GPI#8, -6), Joseph Cheong (GPI#10, -5) and Jason Mercier (GPI#12, -9) that has the poker world buzzing; Negreanu and Mercier especially as they had been battling for the #1 spot on the GPI for over four months.

Giacomo Fundaro GPIRecent scores at the Peoples Poker Tour event in Nova Gorica have allowed the Italian duo of Andrea Dato (GPI#235, +62) and WPT Champions Club member Giacomo Fundaro (GPI#123, +32) to make the biggest jumps inside the GPI300 this week.

Ronnie Bardah (GPI#240, +27), James Mitchell (GPI#243, +26) and Kevin MacPhee (GPI#54, +12) are just a few more name players who moved up the charts this week.

DOWN THE LADDER

Phil Hellmuth GPIThe Brat takes The Beat this week. With his successes at WSOP Europe now over a year old, Phil Hellmuth (GPI#163, -103) has suffered a monumental setback on the circuit. After ending 2012 inside the GPI Top 10, Hellmuth’s results have been lacking in 2013 and the lack of scores have come back to haunt the former WSOP World Champion.

Christopher Brammer (GPI#197, -54), Kyle Julius (GPI#156, -50) and David Benyamine (GPI#115, -32) join Hellmuth down the ladder.

IN-N-OUT

Liv Boeree GPIReigning WPT bestbet Jacksonville Champion Michael Linster (GPI#272, +34) returns to the GPI300 this week. The news gets better for Linster as he has final tabled the Full Tilt Montreal Festival which takes place later today at Playground Poker Club.

On the flip-side, Liv Boeree (GPI#371, -88) headlines the big names that have fallen out of the GPI300 this week. The former EPT Sanremo Champ did enjoy some success during the latest edition of the PokerStars WCOOP, hopefully that will translate into success on the live felt or Boeree’s slide could turn into a free fall.

Joining Boeree on the outside looking in are a trio of French players led by superstar Fabrice Soulier (GPI#336, -43). Soulier is joined by rising stars Nicolas Cardyn (GPI#302, -85) and Paul Tedeschi (GPI#363, -128).
