GPS Southend on the Horizon, Poker Murder Suspects on Trial

Genting Poker Series Heads South

Genting Poker’s next live stop will land in Southend next week and ahead of the £440 Main Event the organisers are offering a slew of last minute satellites.

So far this season the Genting Poker Series has continued to surpass all expectations and the forthcoming event in Southend is expected to be no different. Indeed, back in 2013 the costal festival attracted 431 runners in the Main Event which meant the prizepool was jacked-up to an impressive £172,400.

Winning the bulk of the money on offer last time around was Danny Tran and the British pro is already planning to take to the felt when the action gets underway next Wednesday.

Also expected to ante-up and compete for another GPS title and guaranteed £125,000 prizepool when play begins will be a slew of UK pros, including tour regulars Simon Deadman, recent PKR Live winner Jeff Kimber and season 3 champions Faisal Shabbir and James Parker.

Suspects Caught in Murder Case

Three suspects connected to the recent murder of British poker pro Mehmet Hassan appeared in court earlier this week for a preliminary hearing of the case against them.

Following intense investigations over the past week, the Daily Mail has reported that one female and two males were arrested by police last Friday and they are now being held pending a trial.

One of those arrested was Leonie Granger who police believe is the female who was with Hassan before he was left for dead in his flat on Sunday, March 23rd.

According to the article, Granger is a 24-year-old is a care worker and was arrested last Friday at her home in Kent after police linked her to the incident.

Joining Leonie in the dock on Monday was Nicholas Chandler and Kyrron Jackson who are also charged with theft and murder.

 Lovgren Leaves PKR

Team PKR Pro Sofia Lovgren has decided to part ways with the 3D poker operator and focus on her ‘next big adventure’ according to a recent forum post.

According to a post on PKR’s forum, the Swedish pro has been offered an opportunity ‘any of us would find hard to decline’ but before she makes her exit she thanked the site for her time in the spotlight.

Indeed, having represented PKR at live tournaments across the world, Lovgren explained that her sponsorship deal allowed her to love poker.

With one female leaving its roster, PKR has moved to replace Lovgren with Eleanor Gudger. Hoping to follow in her predecessor’s footsteps and win the affections of the PKR community, the English professional will now represent the online poker site at multiple tournaments across the world including the upcoming World Series Of Poker (WSOP).
