GUKPT Blackpool Complete; UKIPT Bristol Finale Poised

Deadman’s Live Win in Blackpool

Simon Deadman proved he wasn’t dead money at the tables yesterday as he scooped the penultimate leg of this year’s 2012.

Pitching up in Blackpool last week, the Grosvenor’s poker tour welcomed some of the UK’s leading lights such as Stuart Rutter and John Eames. However, when the cards had fallen and the chips riffled, it was Deadman who shone the brightest amongst the city’s neon lights.

In total, a field of 173 anted-up the £1,000 buy-in which created a first place prize of £49,290. After three days of play it looked as though GUKPT sponsored pro Rutter was going to dominate the final, however, after a series of unfortunate breaks he found himself exiting the tournament in 11th place for £2,600.

While Rutter was falling, Deadman was rising and after watching his fellow finalists falter he eventually found himself heads-up with Jack Sandford. With a 3-1 chip lead Deadman soon broke down Sandford and when made a set of nines in the final hand he clinched both the title and the lion’s share of the prizepool.

Place Name Prize
1st Simon Deadman £49,290
2nd Jack Sandford £34,170
3rd Robert Boon £21,190
4th Lucas Reeves £12,980
5th Wahid Patel £9,950
6th Ian Gascoigne £8,220
7th Bernard Sevilla £6,490
8th Trevor Reardon £4,760

UKIPT Finale

A strong performance by Wojtek Barzantny during Day 3 of UKIPT’s Bristol event, yesterday, put him in a strong position to claim his second title in five days.

Having defeated Chris Moorman in the live finale of the UKIPT Online Championship last Wednesday, Wojtek bagged 2,880,000 chips in yesterday’s session to lead the way going into today’s final.

His closest rival at the end of the day was Robert Bull with 1,342,000 chips, followed by Craig Goddard who amassed 1,039,000.

The remaining eight players resumed their battle earlier today, and when the action closes the eventual winner will walk away with £90,400.

Irish Bash Comes to a Close

At the end of October an eager field of 1,148 runners made their way to Dublin’s Regency Hotel for one of Europe’s most well populated events: The Boylepoker.com International Poker Open.

Despite a modest buy-in of just €230, the bumper field pushed the prizepool up to €229,600 which meant the eventual winner would walk away with €42,530.

Having played for two days (between October 19th and 20th) the tournament eventually reached just eight players and after taking a brief hiatus the finalists returned on Saturday to contest the finale.

Leading the pack at the start of play was Tom Brady and after keeping his composure while those around him lost theirs, he finally walked away with the title.

A tense heads-up match against one time short stack Darren Millar resulted in Brady losing the chip lead at one point. However, he managed to rally himself and reclaim his position at the top before closing out the event.

Place Name Prize
1st Tom Brady €42,530
2nd Darren Millar €30,715
3rd Emmett Davis €21,605
4th Henry Port €16,215
5th Lori Lozzaro €12,730
6th Thomas Nathan €10,620
7th Colum Horan €8,485
