Guttman Gets a Fourth in the Aussie Millions; Estrellas New Season
Guttman Wins Fourth Aussie Millions Title
It was all about the number three in Australia yesterday as Michael Guttman took down the Aussie Millions’ third event.
A total of 210 players started the Shootout tournament, which meant Guttman’s win came courtesy of three single table wins.
After the opening day of action left just 21 players in contention, it looked as though British grinder Richard Ashby would be making a run for the title.
However, a tough second session left him short of chips and heading to the rail in 15th place with $4,200 in his back pocket.
As the field decreased it was Peter Evans who led the action going into the final nine; however, he too suffered a similar demise to Ashby and eventually left the tournament in 7th place.
With Evans out the way it was time for Guttman to work his chips into a tournament winning stack.
By the time just two players remained it was Guttman who had the advantage over Shane Foglietta. Their battle was a brief one, with Guttman finishing off his opponent in just a few hands.
With that the Australian grinder picked up his fourth Championship ring and $44,100.
Place | Name | Prize |
1st | Michael Guttman | $44,100 |
2nd | Shane Foglietta | $29,400 |
3rd | Phillip Siddell | $23,100 |
4th | Daniel DiPasquale | $16,800 |
5th | Peter Longmore | $14,700 |
6th | Mark Malecha | $12,600 |
7th | Peter Evans | $10,500 |
8th | Frank Tripodi | $8,400 |
9th | David Heskin | $6,300 |
Estrellas Gears Up for New Season
The Estrellas Poker Tour is quickly becoming one of Europe’s most popular festivals and today marks the start of their first Main Event of 2013.
Kicking off in Madrid, the €1,100 opening Main Event will have a €400,000 guarantee and run for a total of five days.
Also on this week’s schedule is a €2,000 High Roller tournament, as well as a €300 Mini Event and a “Sunday Battle”.
Last year the Estrellas Poker Tour boasted some impressive fields, with their Barcelona event attracting a staggering 1,037 players.
Indeed, all the early signs are that this year’s ESPT Madrid will be another huge success, with organisers already predicting that the guaranteed prizepool will be smashed.
