LAPT Brazil Nears Final Table, WSOP Day 7 Updates

LAPT Brazil Plays On

The World Series of Poker isn’t the only tournament in the world at the moment, as the PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour headed to Sao Paolo, Brazil. The tournament began on May 30, offering a R$4,400 buy-in NLHE Main Event with unlimited reentries.

Day 1A attracted 481 entries, and by the time Day 1B closed registration, there were 1,150 entries altogether. That created a prize pool of more than R$4.4 million, which would be used to pay the top 167 players.

Day 2 started with 399 players but thinned the field to 71, bursting the money bubble in the process. Players like Alexandre Gomes, Bill Gazes, Leo Fernandez, and Jorge Limon cashed before play stopped.

Day 3 sent the likes of Ciao Pessagno to the rail on the way to the final table, and Andre Cuco led late into the evening with 3,224,000 chips and 25 players remaining.

WSOP Event 8 Update

The $1,500 NLHE Millionaire Maker event was clearly not going to finish in three days. What started with 7,977 players (and a $10,768,950 prize pool, let’s not forget), brought 1,466 of those competitors back on Day 2. The field thinned down to 178, but Day 3 was not going to see the final table through.

Players like Greg Mueller, Allen Kessler, Matt Salsberg, and John Racener were among those to leave the field on Day 3. At the dinner break, there were still 30 players in action, led by Andrew Dick with 3,875,000 chips.

WSOP Event 9 Update

The $1K NLHE event of the weekend started with 1,940 players and a $1,746,000 prize pool. Day 2 brought back 161 players, all of whom were in the money.

Some of the players to depart on Day 2 were Shannon Shorr, Kyle Cartwright, Dominik Nitsche, and Faraz Jaka. By the dinner break, 32 players remained with Frank Patti leading with 510K chips.

WSOP Event 10 Update

The $10K Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 Championship event offered a field full of well-known players. The tournament started with 178 of them and a $1,673,200 prize pool.

Day 2 started with 111 players, but only 18 were to be paid. At dinner time, there were still 47 players in the event, making it look like a tough task to reach the final table late into the night. Doug Polk was atop the leaderboard at that point with 428K.

WSOP Event 11 Update

The only new tournament for June 2 was Event 11, a $1,500 NLHE Six-Handed tournament. By the dinner break, no official numbers were released, though the WSOP scoreboard showed 1,152 entries and only 528 players still remaining.
