Vegas Strip Set for Changes

The latest in a series of changes to the world famous Las Vegas Strip came on Thursday with news that Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall will close for renovation. One of the oldest casinos on the Strip, Bill’s is located at the corner of Flamingo and Las Vegas Boulevard, diagonal from the Bellagio. The casino will close on February 4 for about one year, and Caesars will refurbish it into a “lifestyle” gaming hotel and casino, complete with rooftop pool and nightclub.

This news comes just several months after the changes began at Imperial Palace, just down the street from Bill’s. Renovations are taking place while the casino and hotel continue to do business, and it will soon be officially known as the Quad Resort & Casino. The entire property will include new restaurants and a High Roller Observation Wheel, otherwise known as a very large Ferris wheel.

The first event was a two-day $365 No Limit Hold’em ring event that looks to have 536 entries for a prize pool of $162,944. This has yet to be made official, but the series is underway with a solid field for Event 1.

DeepStacks Poker Tour Rolls On

The DSPT at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut is moving along toward the Main Event set to begin on December 1. One of the latest tournaments to declare a victor was the $500 NLHE, better known as Event 18 on the schedule, and it was hosted by none other than Kevin “KevMath” Mathers. It ended with a deal between the two finalists, wherein Erik Guzowski took $14,739 for second place and Mitch Stachura won $20,000 and the trophy.
