Lucille Cailly is the newest Ivey Poker pro

Europe’s Leading Lady talks to the Global Poker Index about becoming the latest member of Team Ivey.

Lucille Cailly Ivey PokerCongratulations on your Ivey Poker signing. How long has this been in the works?

Lucille Cailly: Thank you! I’m really thrilled and honored to join such a great team. They contacted me a little bit before the EPT Deauville.

What makes Team Ivey special? Other than the fact that it now has you in it 🙂

Cailly: The names on the team speak for themselves. And I think that IveyPoker has a huge potential. I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

The great thing about the site is that it’s going to be more than just a typical software. The teaching platform will allow people to improve their game through an extensive catalogue of videos from a great roster of players.

On a personal level, I’m really excited to sign with an international room. And well, it’s Phil Ivey!

I’ve heard you are a Fantasy Poker Manager too. Is this true? What has your experience with the game been like?

Cailly: It’s a great game about poker players, and you get hooked really quickly. I often pick my teams very well (I am lucky that my players run deep a lot), but I always forget to challenge people so I’m still broke.

FPM isn’t your only kinship with GPI. You have also won the GPI’s “Leading Lady” award this year. What did this award mean to you?

Cailly: A lot! Even if it was weird competing against my roommate, I was really happy and a bit emotional to win. I obviously feel honored that my achievements have been acknowledged by the poker industry and my peers. And even though I didn’t get the chance to bring back an EPT title, I still have a shiny trophy at home.

Will your new IveyPoker signing have an impact on the number of tournaments you play in the future, and where?

Cailly: I have the chance to be involved in the decision-making on that. My future schedule is something that will be decided jointly with IveyPoker in order to maximize their visibility but also offer me flexibility and ensure that I will always play my A game in tournaments.

I read in your bio that you worked in poker media, and you have thus seen the industry from multiple angles. What is your view of the poker world today? Is there something about it you would like to see change?

Cailly: Needless to say, I share the widely held view amongst players that the average level of skill in live and online poker has increased tremendously over the last few years. This has two direct and closely linked consequences: it has become harder to find recreational players, and you have to work continuously to stay on top of the field.

About what I’d like to see change, I’ve just been through what seems like 8 months of winter in London, so a tournament in Bali would be more than welcome!
