Marbella to Host Two Major Events, US Players Denied Refund

Poker Tours Head to Marbella

The Marbella Poker Festival is glinting like a golden coloured deckchair in the distance as two major tournaments get ready to descend upon the city for a fortnight of poker fun.

Being a firm favourite of British holidaymakers since the early eighties, the Marbella Poker Festival is certain to be a well-attended event when the cards go in the air on April 4th. Indeed, aside from glorious sunshine and picturesque scenery, the city will play host to a bevy of poker action, including the WPT National Marbella Main Event and The Grand Series of Poker Marbella Main Event.

The two events will run side-by-side which means travelling pros will have a slew of chances to win a healthy sum of money. On top of the piles of cash on offer, players will also be able to capture a prestigious WPT title when the €550 tournament gets underway on April 9th.

Over the last few years Marbella has certainly proved to be a popular destination with European poker players and when the festivities kick off next month it’s likely Casino Marbella will teaming with hungry grinders.

Players Denied Rebate

PokerStars’ parent company, the Rational Group, has secured another victory in the US courtrooms according to a recent report.

Having been legally challenged by Kelly Sonnenberg on behalf of poker players in Illinois, the Rational Group recently reported their move for a dismal had been accepted by Judge David R. Herdon.

The basis of the case was that players in Illinois were trying to sue the online poker provider in order to reclaim all the money they’d lost whilst PokerStars was operating in the US.

Although the idea of a legal loss protection might be something us as players would be in favour of, the judge ultimately decided there was no validity to the claims and dismissed the case.

The news of the Rational Groups latest win is not only positive for the company but for the industry at large. Indeed, with operators now seemingly free from such legal challenges in the future it means the industry is much likely to move forward in the right direction.
