Owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, Jerry Buss, died on February 18 after a battle with cancer. He was 80 years old and left behind six children.

Buss was known in the sports world for his longtime ownership of the Lakers basketball team, which he purchased in 1979, and for his contributions to the game that warranted an induction to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010.

Poker players knew him for his regular participation in high stakes cash games and tournaments like the World Series of Poker. He also appeared on televised poker shows like “High Stakes Poker” and “Poker After Dark.” The World Series of Poker told the media today that they are going to ask Buss’ family about naming the WSOP Seven Card Stud Championship after him, complete with a trophy for the winner of the tournament.
