Parx Series Announced, Mizzi and Cheong Win, Alpha8 to Premiere

Parx Casino Announces Tournament Series

Pennsylvania’s Parx Casino is preparing for its fifth installment of the popular Big Stax live poker tournament series. Big Stax V will be held from February 20 to March 10 with a total of nine events.

The series will begin with a $300 NLHE reentry tournament that will offer three starting flights. There will also be a $500 buy-in Heads-Up event, PLO/NLHE mix, Omaha 8-or-Better, and the $1,500 buy-in NLHE finale with unlimited reentries and several starting flights.

Players in all tournaments will be able to play multiple flights and take the largest stack into Day 2. Late entries and reentries receive full chip stacks.

Mizzi and Cheong Chop Bellagio High Roller

The Bellagio recently hosted a $25K buy-in NLHE High Roller tournament. According to PokerNews, there were six players in action: Cary Katz, Roger Sippl, Thomas Marchese, Scott Seiver, Joseph Cheong, and Sorel Mizzi. There were five reentries.

The tournament took seven hours. The final two players – Cheong and Mizzi – chopped the $271,700 prize pool according to chip stacks so that Mizzi took home $149,707 and Cheong $121,993.

WPT Alpha8 to Premiere on TV

The World Poker Tour announced that the High Roller tournament series filmed for television – WPT Alpha8 – will premiere on Sunday, March 16, on the FS1 Fox Sports channel.

“It’s going to look like no other poker show you’ve seen before,” reported the WPT blog.
