PCA Prize Pool Set, Harman Cancelled, Cody Signed

PCA Main Event Sets Field and Prize Pool

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $10K Main Event started with 320 players on Day 1A, though only 151 of them made it through the night. Maxim Lobzhanidze was the chip leader when all was said and done, with a total of 248,900 chips, followed by Gilbert Diaz with 215,900 and Darren Elias with 191K.

Day 1B brought another 667 players into action, making the total number of entries 987. That set the prize pool at $9,573,900 and included the money from 18 players who bought in but didn’t make the trip after all. Some of the more intriguing names in the field included Jason Alexander and Michael Phelps.

That second starting day dwindled down to about 370 players at the end of the night. Ashton Griffin was the chip leader with 253,700 chips.

Jetten and Telker win PCA Side Events

The first-ever Open-Face Chinese Poker tournament brought 59 players, 18 of whom re-entered for the $2,150 buy-in, to the tables for a $149,380 prize pool. David Bach and David Baker made the final table, but Peter Jetten crushed the final table to win $52,280 and the Open-Face Chinese title.

Event 7 was the $5K buy-in NLHE Turbo, and the 57 players created a prize pool of $276,450. The final two players were Johnny Lodden and Mike Telker, and the latter emerged victorious. Telker, known as munchenHB online, took home $96,750 for the win.

Harman TV Series Cancelled

American television series “Sin City Rules” has been removed from the TLC channel schedule. Rumors have swirled that the series’ ratings were low and the show would not continue, and the Las Vegas Sun reports that there will be no further new episodes aired after January 8. Three final episodes that were taped but not aired may be available on the U.S. website.

Jennifer Harman was one of the stars of the reality TV series, due to her position as a high stakes poker player and powerful woman of Las Vegas. She and the other cast members were informed of the show’s cancellation by online announcements.

Jake Cody Becomes PokerStars Team Pro

A big announcement at the PCA involved a new member of Team PokerStars Pro, and Daniel Negreanu introduced Jake Cody to the waiting players and media. As the youngest Triple Crown winner (WPT, WSOP, and EPT titles), all of which happened in 2010 and 2011, Cody took his place with a PokerStars patch and said that it was “literally a dream come true” to be a part of the team.

Cody not only has more than $3.1 million in live tournament earnings, he has a 2011 SCOOP title under his belt and numerous online successes.
