Stout Starts Charity Series of Poker

Poker players are known for their generosity. Ask most of them to play in a charity poker tournament or donate to a worthy cause, and donations flow like a river.

Matt Stout is one of those players who gives regularly to a number of causes. He was admittedly more involved in charity events before Black Friday, which took away his ability to make a living from online poker in the United States. But now, he’s ready to pick it up again.

According to a PokerListings interview at the WSOP this week, Stout is already getting good feedback from his new endeavor, the Charity Series of Poker. His goal is to promote charity tournaments, and the first one is being done with the help of Tournament Director Matt Savage at Planet Hollywood on June 6 in Las Vegas.

The beneficiary of the tournament will be Three Squares, a food bank in Nevada. Half of the prize pool will go to the charity from the $300 buy-in tournament with $100 rebuys.

Players who have already committed to participating include Chris Moneymaker, Carlos Mortensen, and WSOP Main Event champions Greg Merson and Ryan Riess.
