Sylvestre wins WSOPC, Lim Wins ANZPT, Gill Wins LAPT, Dunst Wins WPT

Charles Sylvestre Wins WSOPC Lac-Leamy

The World Series of Poker Circuit series in Gatineau wrapped this weekend. The Casino Lac-Leamy hosted the tournaments, including the $1,675 NLHE Main Event that started on November 19. The field was set at 371 entries and prize pool at $556,500.

Day 2 burst through the money bubble so the last 45 players could get paid, and action stopped that night with 18 players still holding chips. Charles Sylvestre was the far-and-away chip leader with 1,227,000, followed by Mike Leah with 608K.

Day 3 started with several double-ups and then Claude St-Pierre began the eliminations with an 18th place finish. When Robert Repaci exited in 11th place for $9,371, the remaining 10 players took spots at the final table. Sylvestre was still far in front of the others with 1.7 million chips.

Sylvestre eliminated many of the final table players but battled John Nelson for the chip lead throughout the action. After Nelson eliminated Dinara Khaziyeva in third place for $55,283, Nelson took 5.2 million chips to heads-up against the 2.2 million of Sylvestre. But the latter doubled, took the lead, and won the title and WSOPC gold ring.

David Lim Wins ANZPT Auckland Main Event

The Australia New Zealand Poker Tour kicked off its sixth season at the SKYCITY Casino in Auckland last week. And the NZ $2,200 NLHE Main Event was the primary draw for the players.

The three starting days brought in a total of 213 entries and created a NZ $426,000 prize pool. Day 2 brought 105 of those players back to the tables and thinned the field to the money bubble, at which point Dean Blatt exited in 25th place, guaranteeing the rest of the field at least NZ $3,834. The night ended after Steven Holloway exited in 13th place. Amant Nauhria led the remaining 12 players with 1,431,500 chips.

Day 3 began with two eliminations, and Angela Brewster bubbled the final table with a tenth place finish worth $7,455. While Nauhria was the chip leader still, David Lim climbed and took over the lead. Nauhria eventually exited in third, and Lim took a 2-to-1 chip lead into heads-up play. And 15 minutes later, Lim captured the title.

Carter Gill Wins LAPT Grand Final

The Latin American Poker Tour Grand Final of Season 6 started in Punta del Este, Uruguay last week with 508 entries and a $1,133,340 prize pool. The top 80 players were in the money as the field dwindled on Day 2, and that night ended with only 32 players and Carter Gill the top in chip counts among them with 169,900 chips.

Day 3 set the final table as players like Flavio Silva and Thiago Camilo exited in the afternoon. Ultimately, Daniel Wilkinson bubbled the final table in ninth place, which was worth $20,620.

The final table played out on November 24 with Gill maintaining a significant lead over the rest of the players, only losing is to Ivan Raich during heads-up play. But Gill managed a comeback and beat his opponent with a flush over a straight to win the tournament.

WPT Segment Host Tony Dunst Wins Caribbean Title

The World Poker Tour‘s latest stop was on the island of St. Maarten in the Caribbean, and the Casino Royale hosted the $3,500 NLHE Main Event with reentries. The total field came to 191 entries and a $592,864 prize pool.

Day 2 started with 107 players but thinned it to 32, and it was on Day 3 that the money bubble burst, courtesy of David Kaufmann, who tangled with Marvin Rettenmaier and lost. Action continued with in-the-money eliminations of players like Sean Jazayeri, Byron Kaverman, and Viet Vo, and the night ended with 11 players.

Day 4 saw players exit like Ebony Kenney in tenth and Bobby Oboodi in eighth. Jean-Nicolas Fortin bubbled the final table, and the final six were set with Tony Dunst and Severin Schleser nearly tied for the chip lead.

The final table played out on November 24 with previous WPT champion Rettenmaier exiting in fourth place. Dunst then took a significant chip lead to heads-up play over Giacomo Fundaro, and he took that to the winner’s circle. The host of the “Raw Deal” segment on WPT television broadcasts finally took a WPT title of his own.
