Tony G Elected, Couden Wins HPO Columbus

Tony G Elected to European Parliament

Antanus Guoga, known to in poker as Tony G, was elected to the European Parliament yesterday. He ran on the pro-Europe Liberal party, which is now Lithuania’s third largest with two seats won in the election.

Tony G is the founder of PokerNews and recently launched TonyBet Poker.

Friend and Bwin.party PR guru Warren Lush flew to Vilnius to celebrate victory with Tony G, calling it a “historical result.”

Joey Couden Wins HPO Columbus

The 2014 Hollywood Poker Open Columbus Regional Main Event at the Hollywood Casino in Ohio is over, and Joey Couden emerged as the champion.

The tournament attracted 126 entries to the $1,800 buy-in NLHE Main Event, and that created a prize pool of $202,754. Day 2 brought back only 29 players, and the money bubble burst to pay the top 13 of them. Couden overcame a severe 7-to-1 chip disadvantage during heads-up play over the course of three hours to win the tournament.

1st place: Joey Couden ($60,827)

2nd place: John Michalak ($36,496)

3rd place: Christopher Collins ($24,330)

4th place: Todd Funderburg ($17,944)

5th place: Jimmie Adams ($13,483)

6th place: Scott Dehm ($11,151)

7th place: Patrick Grace ($9,124)

8th place: Danny Clements ($7,096)

9th place: Stephen Birtcher ($5,576)

The next stop is the Season 2 Championship at the M Resort in Las Vegas, which offers a $2,500 buy-in NLHE Main Event beginning June 27.
