Top 10 Women of 2014 WSOP

As soon as the 2014 World Series of Poker got underway, there was one woman who captured everyone’s attention. Event 2 was the first open event of the Series, and it was a big $25K buy-in No Limit Hold’em Mixed Max tournament. Out of a 131-player field, Vanessa Selbst was the last player standing and won her third WSOP gold bracelet, along with $871,148 in prize money.

The only other woman to win a bracelet at the 2014 WSOP was Haixia Zhang, who won the $1K buy-in NLHE Ladies Championship.

Meanwhile, quite a few other women ran well, cashed a number of times, and made final tables. Considering that there were only 4,351 female entries as compared to 78,009 in all 65 WSOP events, females won quite a bit of money. As in past year, women were a small percentage of the overall player fields, coming in at 5.28 percent as compared to 94.72 percent male fields.

By earnings, the top 10 women at this summer’s games, prior to the Main Event, were:

1. Vanessa Selbst – $876,665

2. Melissa Burr – $280,450

3. Lynne Beaumont – $273,090

4. Margareta Morris – $212,202

5. Angela Prada-Moed – $204,537

6. Shirley Rosario – $163,454

7. Xaixia Zhang – $153,470

8. Cherish Andrews – $144,694

9. Mikiyo Aoki – $94,800

10. Meikat Siu – $61,114

As far as the number of cashes for women, there were several who ran deep in numerous events. Those cashes, excluding the ongoing Main Event, belonged to:

1. Maria Ho – 7

2. Melissa Burr – 5

3. Angela Prada-Moed – 5

4. Amanda Baker – 4

5. Maria Mayrinck – 4

6. Loni Harwood – 4

7. Elizabeth Montizanti – 3

8. Jamie Kerstetter – 3

9. Deanna Dozier – 3

10. Xuan Liu – 3
