UKSPC Rumbles On, Spanish Players Feel the Long Arm of the Law
Big Numbers for Grosvenor UKSPC
The UK Student Poker Championship continued to welcome more keen grinders from across the country yesterday and by the time the action closed an impressive 113 players had joined the Main Event.
Thanks to a generous late registration period the opening flight of the Grosvenor UKSPC saw the field top 100 players and when the betting closed it was Ralf Peters who led the way.
After bagging 177,500 chips the young grinder was able to edge ahead of the competition and find himself atop of the event’s 27 survivors.
While Peters was carving his way through the Main Event, Sam Wain was busy climbing to the top of the leaderboard in the £110 High Rollers.
After sitting down with 30 players on Day 2 the student of poker managed to finish ahead of the surviving nine and will lead today’s race for the £4,570 top prize.
Today’s action got underway earlier and on top of a winner being crowned in the High Roller, Day 1B of the sold out Main Event will push another cohort of hopefuls through to Day 2.

Police Raid Spanish Home Game
Spanish home games appear to be in jeopardy according to a recent article by EuroWeeklyNews.
Unlicensed games have been on the agenda of the Spanish authorities for a number of moths and earlier this week a bar game in Malaga was “busted” by the police.
In an effort to shut down supposedly illegal games, the police stormed the bar which was holding a nine-man SNG which cost just €30 to enter.
Between the nine players in the SNG there was no more than €270 in buy-ins on the table but that didn’t stop police from confiscating €1,655 in cash, three decks of cards and 497 poker chips.
The owners were then served with a prosecution note containing multiple charges such as allowing patrons to smoke inside, not having insurance and fraud for not paying taxes on winnings.
