Unibet Open Heads to France, Ivey Battles Crockfords
Unibet Cannes on the Horizon
The Unibet bandwagon will roll into Cannes and the Casino Barriere Le Croisette this week for the third event of its sixth season.
Having already visited Copenhagen and Troia earlier in the year, the Unibet organisers will now offer another tournament fiesta on the shore of the French Riviera.
Known for its hospitality and world-class tournament structure, the €1,500+€150 Main Event is expected to attracted a slew of European talent, including last year’s Unibet Paris winner Jaroslaw Barglik.
Alongside the Main Event will be an exclusive player party as well as a host of side events with buy-ins ranging from €200 to the €2,500 High Roller.

Ivey’s Legal Edge
The battle between London’s Crockfords Casino and Phil Ivey took another turn recently after the latter described how edge sorting helped him win £7.5 million over the course of two Punto Banco sessions.
Despite winning the money the funds have yet to be released by Crockfords’ parent company, Genting, which has led to Ivey submitting a legal document describing how he won the money.
Although the strategy isn’t technically defined as cheating, Crockfords has claimed that Ivey “acted to defeat the essential premise of the game” and will be using this as the main thrust of their legal defence.
However, Ivey appears undeterred by the casino’s argument and will be fighting for his money with the claim that casinos are aware of edge sorting but often don’t take steps to prevent advantage players from using it.
Indeed, Ivey is claiming this is the case with Crockfords and, thus, he should be entitled to his winnings.
The trial will go to court later in the year and if Ivey can perform like he does at the poker table it’s likely he’ll walk away with another healthy bankroll boost.
