WPT Borgata Down to 10, Monroe wins HPT, LAPT Panama Underway

WPT Borgata Seeks Final Table

The World Poker Tour’s Borgata Poker Open Main Event began on September 15 with its $3,500 reentry NLHE tournament. The 1,189-entry field created a prize pool of $3,805,989, which far exceeded the $3 million guarantee.

Day 2 began with 591 players and thinned the field to 174. Day 3 broke into the money so the top 110 players could receive payouts. Some who did included Jonathan Little, Matt Salsberg, and Paul Volpe. Play ended with 36 players and Cong Pham in the lead with 2,548,000 chips.

Day 4 saw eliminations of names like Matt Glantz in 23rd place and Raj Vohra in 20th. Alex Rocha busted in 11th place.

The final 10 players continued on with Cong Pham holding 10.2 million chips and Vanessa Selbst in second place on the leaderboard with 6.94 million. Action continued in order to reach the final table of six.

Monroe Wins HPT Golden Gates

The latest stop for the Heartland Poker Tour took place at the Golden Gates Casino & Poker Parlour in Black Hawk, Colorado. The Main Event brought in 716 players over the course of three starting flights, which set the prize pool at $1,070,420. The top 72 players were paid from that amount.

On September 16, the final table took place with the following results:

1st place: Richard Monroe ($235,494)

2nd place: Alex Greenblatt ($145,898)

3rd place: Keith Love ($95,803)

4th place: Matthew Colvin ($66,901)

5th place: David Gutfreund ($48,919)

6th place: Ian Glycenfer ($37,465)

7th place: Kevin Eyster ($31,363)

8th place: Ken Cordova ($26,225)

9th place: Garth Thompson ($21,408)

LAPT Panama Begins

The Latin American Poker Tour was the latter half of its sixth season when it headed to Panama City for what has become a very popular LAPT stop. Action took place at the Veneto Wyndham Grand Hotel & Casino beginning on September 18.

The first of two starting days of the $1,500 buy-in reentry tournament attracted 201 players, though only 52 of them made it through the night. The leader of that group was Marco Oliveira, who ended with a stack of 213,200 chips.
