WPT Borgata Main Update, Silver Predicts

WPT Borgata Main Event Hits Day 2 Stride

The World Poker Tour Borgata Winter Open Main Event began on January 27, with a $3,500 NLHE buy-in featuring a reentry option and $2 million guarantee.

The two starting days brought a total of 1,042 players to action, smashing the guarantee in lieu of a $3,335,442 prize pool. The Day 1A chip leader was Luis Vasquez with 182,705 chips, while Mark Ketteringham led Day 1B with 193,775 chips. Chris Barnes was in second place overall with 189,500, and bonuses were awarded to Ketteringham and Barnes – $5,000 for the overall chip leader and $3,500 for second place.

A total of 567 players made it to Day 2 on January 29, and only about 269 remained at the dinner break. The money bubble was likely to burst on Day 3.

Nate Silver Predicts US Online Gambling Outcome

The special guest at the 2013 Aussie Millions is Nate Silver, famous American statistician and author. Most recently, he predicted the results of the 2012 U.S. presidential election in all 50 states. The longtime poker player traveled to Melbourne to compete in his first Aussie Millions Main Event and took time for some interviews.

This conversation with Bluff revealed that he believes a federal online gambling bill in the United States will not happen soon, but the actions of the individual states to legalize online poker may influence the long term outlook on the subject. He sees states banding together with interstate compacts, and more states will seek to be included, patterning their online poker development after lottery programs.
