WPT Borgata Nears Final Table, LAPC and WSOPC Tunica Results, Survivor Contestant

WPT Borgata Closes in on Final Table

The World Poker Tour was settled in at the Borgata in Atlantic City for its latest tour stop, and the WPT Borgata Poker Open Main Event was well underway. The $3,500 NLHE reentry tournament had a $3 million guarantee, but when it turned up with 1,229 entries, the prize pool soared over $3.9 million.

Day 2 thinned the field from 642 players to 188, and Lazaro Hernandez (chip leader from Day 1) led the pack again, that time with 753K chips.

Day 3 started with some quick eliminations and neared the money bubble in the afternoon hours. Dale Jamison was the bubble player, eliminated by Hernandez in 121st place. Some who cashed throughout the rest of the night included Andy Frankenberger, Aaron Massey, Brian Lemke, Dan O’Brien, Matt Affleck, Dan Heimiller, Isaac Baron, Harrison Gimbel, and John Racener. Play ended with with 36 players and Farid Jattin atop the leaderboard with 3,818,000 chips.

January 30 was Day 4 and saw the eliminations of names like Joe Serock, John D’Agostino, Chad Brown, Faraz Jaka, Byron Kaverman, John Dibella, and Ronit Chamani. Tyler Patterson exited in 11th place.

At the time of the dinner break, the final 10 players’ chip counts showed Jared Jaffee in the lead with 7.5 million chips.

LAPC Preliminaries Underway

The L.A. Poker Classic at Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, California, started on January 17 and has a full schedule of 60 events. One of the last will be the WPT Main Event.

The first major tournament in the series was Event 2, the $150 NLHE tournament with a $1 million guarantee. There were 8,133 entries, which pushed the prize pool just over the bar with $1,016,625 in the prize pool. In the end, Matthew Damadeo beat Paul Chauderson to take home more than $128K for the win.

Play continues with big names showing up on the warm west coast like Toto Leonidas, David Levi, David Baker, and Mark Newhouse.

WSOPC Tunica Finds Early Winners

The World Series of Poker Circuit was at Harrah’s Tunica in Mississippi for its most recent stop, and action began on January 23.

The first event was a $365 NLHE that drew 384 players for a $115,200 prize pool. Mitchell Franks came out on top with more than $25K for the win.

Other winners thus far include Nicholas Burris in Event 2, Robert Richardson in Event 3, Robert Hankins in Event 4, and Justin Brown in Event 5.

Pro Poker Player to be on Survivor TV Show

Garrett Adelstein is a professional cash poker game player, and he has been selected to be one of the contestants on the upcoming season of “Survivor.” The American television show will feature the 27-year old when it begins airing this February.

Adelstein’s “Survivor” bio page says that he went on the show to “win enough money to impress girls in LA” where he lives.
