WPT Legends Begins, HPT Unveils Belt

WPT Legends of Poker Stars Day 1A

The World Poker Tour officially began its 12th season with in Cyprus, but the first American stop that will be filmed for broadcast on US television is the WPT Legends of Poker tournament. The Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles is hosting the festivities, and the primary tournament is the $3,700 buy-in reentry NLHE Main Event that runs from August 29 to September 4.

The first of the three starting flights brought 143 players to the tables, and anyone who busted throughout the day can reenter on the two subsequent starting days. By the dinner break, only 112 players remained.

HPT Championship Belt Revealed

The Heartland Poker Tour is heading to the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles in September for its inaugural event there. It was just announced that the winner of the televised Main Event will take home a custom-made championship belt in addition to the prize money. The belt is similar to ones awarded to professional wrestlers and boxers, and it will weigh about 10 pounds.

The HPT Gold Rush Series will start at Commerce with a $150 buy-in event on September 4.
