WPT Milton Keynes Result, Ivey Values His Hair

Gudger Wins WPT National

With tournaments across Europe slowly coming to a close over the last few days, another champion was crowned recently as the WPT‘s latest National event came to a conclusion inside The Casino Xscape MK in Milton Keynes.

Welcoming a mixture of pros and amateurs from across the UK, the £200 tournament was a high octane affair with three starting flights (two on the same day), but when the chips had finished flying it was John Gudger who came out on top.

Having qualified for the tournament via a $3 online satellite, the British grinders found himself in Sunday’s finale with an average stack, whilst Richard Jwanczuk unbagged a mountain of chips.

However, despite having the overnight chip lead, Jwanczuk couldn’t maintain his footing in the early offing and by the time Sunil Mistri and Liam Pettman had hit the rail, he found himself out in sixth.

It was Gudger who sent the former chip leader to the rail and secure a pot that virtually secured him the title. Indeed, despite Andrew Brisland’s fifth place exit setting up a turbulent four-way battle, Gudger was eventually able to assert his dominance and by the time just three players remained he managed to put together a one-two combination.

First to feel the power of Gudger’s stack was Michael Rosaman when his Jh 3h was unable to find a way past pocket kings. With just one more player in his way the tournament was virtually Gudger’s to lose and within a few hands he clinched the title when his king-high was enough to beat Sam Goodman’s mistimed bluff on a 3c 6h 6c 3h 5s board with Ts 7s.

With the final few chips now in his possession, Gudger beamed with pride as the winner’s trophy and £12,750 was pushed his way.

Ivey Considers Hair Prop Bet

For most people the New Year offers a chance to set life-changing goals, but if you’re Phil Ivey it’s time to consider ways to make some more money.

With poker action easing off in the coming days, Phil has offered a potential prop bet to his Twitter followers by saying he may grow his hair for one year without cutting it.

The bet was formed after Phil looked back at an old picture of himself as a child with an impressive fro.

Who knows, maybe this time next year the world’s most feared player might be looking for a price to cut off his flowing locks.
