WPT Montreal Seeks FT, Hellmuth Bust

WPT Montreal Heads to Final Table

The World Poker Tour tournament in Montreal was in the process of finding its final table on Monday, November 26. The $3,300CAD buy-in Main Event at Playground Poker was a record breaker for Canadian poker and the WPT, as 1,173 players turned out to create a prize pool of nearly $3.4 million.

Day 2 started with 695 players and hit the money at 117 players. They then played until only 45 remained, with some of the elimination list including names like Martin Jacobsen, Ken Aldridge, and Xuan Liu.

Day 3 had a plan to play down to the final table, and the tournament lost players like Dan Smith in 42nd place, Christian Harder in 30th, Mike McDonald in 27th, Amanda Musumeci in 14th, and Ashton Griffin in 13th. At post time, only nine players remained with Gavin Smith and Jeff Gross in the running for final table spots.

Hellmuth’s Bust

Phil Hellmuth tweeted gratitude to Jon Hair of the Studio of Fine Art for a bronze bust. The bust is shown here with a caption that denotes Hellmuth’s 11 WSOP bracelets and membership in the Poker Hall of Fame, though there is no mention of his most recent accomplishment.

On the main commissions page of the artist, there are also bronze busts of Doyle Brunson and Annie Duke.
