WPT Seminole in the Money

The World Poker Tour settled in to the warm weather of Hollywood, Florida, last week to kick off the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown. The $3,500 NLHE Main Event offered unlimited reentries over the three starting days and a $5 million guarantee.

The first day attracted 479 entries, another 542 on the second, and then 774 entries on the third. The prize pool was set at 1,795, which became the largest number of entries ever in a WPT tournament The prize pool was then set well beyond the guarantee at $5,763,150, which would pay out the top 170 players and give over $1 million to the winner.

Day 2 brought back 673 players and thinned the field throughout the afternoon. The money bubble loomed in the evening hours, at which time Anthony Zinno was eliminated by Oron Unger in 171st place. Everyone else was guaranteed at least $7,093, and play continued.

WSOPC Cherokee Heads to Final Table

The World Series of Poker Circuit at Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina began on April 3 with preliminary tournaments. The $1,675 NLHE Main Event with reentries began on April 11.

Day 2 began with 137 remaining players and worked its way to the money bubble, at which point Nancy Birnbaum eliminated an opponent to break into the money. Late in the evening, players like Daniel Lowery and Bill Childs exited as the final table neared.
