WPT Seminole Nears Final Table, Sandling Wins WSOPC Cherokee

WPT Seminole Thins Field

The World Poker Tour’s part of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown moved along as planned. The $3,500 NLHE Main Event offered unlimited reentries over the three starting days and a $5 million guarantee. But the final number was 1,795 entries for an actual prize pool of $5,763,150.

Day 2 started with 673 remaining players and worked its way through the money so the top 170 finishers could begin to collect some winnings of at least $7,093. Play moved forward until only 114 competitors remained. Richard Kirsch was the chip leader that night.

Day 3 whittled the field further, seeing names like Tyler Patterson, Nancy Todd, Noah Schwartz, Ylon Schwartz, Tristan Wade, and Eddy Sabat exit the tournament. Rep Porter, Mohsin Charania, and Matthew Jarvis also joined the rail but they kept going with the goal of reaching the final 18.

Jason Sandling Wins WSOPC Cherokee

The World Series of Poker Circuit at Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina launched into the $1,675 NLHE Main Event with reentries on April 11. There were a total of 665 entries, which created a $997,500 prize pool.

Day 2 brought back 137 players, entered the money portion of the tournament to start paying the top 72 finishers, and ended the night with only 11 left to vie for the title. Tripp Kirk was the chip leader at that point, hoping to pick up a third WSOPC ring and second Main Event title, but Jason Sandling was in pursuit of those chips and first major score.

Sandling took over the chip lead midway through the final table action on April 14 and took the lead into heads-up play, going on to win it for his first WSOPC ring.
